Tampons were taxed as luxury items. Viagra and Rogaine weren’t. Apparently, they were “essential.” So we called it what it was: sexist.

With PERIOD., we turned a policy problem into a public one. Loud enough that ignoring it became uncomfortable.

Michigan repealed the tampon tax. Other states followed. And the system got a little less rigged.
